Zibaan Madarem / My Mother's Tongue (2019)
2'47"
Single-channel digital video, color, stereo sound

A mother tongue and a mother's tongue bound. A volatile intergenerational linguistic cacophony of sounds of the local, unpracticed, and colonized echoes and wanes. The water flow replaces the physical presence of the artist in diaspora, by trying to neutralize, smooth, and calm the clashing sounds with an endless flow of water.

Languages heard: English, Arabic, and Persian.
